Friends of Bangladesh (FOB) UK  Another Step Forward in Serving Humanity

London, 11 October 2025:
The humanitarian organisation Friends of Bangladesh (FOB), UK has taken another significant step forward in its mission to serve humanity. The organisation successfully hosted its Annual Charity Dinner at the prestigious Mayfair Venue, Romford, on Saturday, 11 October 2025.

The main objective of the event was to raise funds to support disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in Bangladesh — particularly for breast cancer treatment, rehabilitation of street children, and eye restoration projects for the visually impaired.

Dr. Mohammad Aziz, General Secretary of FOB, announced that the organisation currently operates a Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Unit across Bangladesh, providing life-saving early diagnosis for rural women. He added that another Mobile Eye Cataract Surgery Unit is being planned to help restore eyesight for people in remote areas.

Since its establishment in 1982, Friends of Bangladesh (FOB), UK has been a symbol of compassion, patriotism, and social service among British Bangladeshis. The organisation proudly follows its remarkable “Hundred Percent Goes to the Beneficiaries” policy — ensuring that every donation directly benefits the needy.

 

Representing the Bangladesh High Commission, London, Mr. Tanvir Mohammad Azim, Commercial Counsellor, read out the message of the High Commissioner, who praised FOB’s efforts, stating:

“Friends of Bangladesh is not merely a diaspora organisation; it is a humanitarian force transforming lives across Bangladesh.”

Distinguished guests at the event included:

The event was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, President of FOB, and managed overall by Dr. Mohammad Aziz, General Secretary. The evening was further enriched by the presence of Trustee Members and former President Mahbub Izdani Khan.

A documentary presentation on FOB’s ongoing humanitarian projects, conducted by Dr. M. A. Auwal, deeply moved the audience. Another vital awareness film on “Breast Cancer Awareness and Self-Examination” was presented by Consultant Breast Surgeon Dr. Zakirullah.

The fundraising segment, led by Ajmal Masroor, a prominent community personality, inspired generous donations from attendees, with assistance from Treasurer Accountant Nurul Islam.

The program was elegantly hosted by Farhan Masud Khan, Solicitor Imtiaz Hossain, and Khadija Nasim, whose coordination added charm and professionalism to the evening.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Accountant Syed Arif Kazi, while President Dr. Ziaul Haque concluded the event with words of gratitude and hope for future success.

The cultural segment featured performances by Al Amin Shad, Ms. Shampa Dewan, and other talented artists, followed by an exciting raffle draw and charity auction that filled the hall with joy and enthusiasm.

The event brought together doctors, lawyers, accountants, businessmen, community representatives, and professionals from across the UK — reflecting the deep trust and affection the British Bangladeshi community holds for Friends of Bangladesh (FOB), UK.

Throughout the evening, one powerful message resonated — even while living abroad, one can stand beside the helpless and poor of Bangladesh through love, compassion, and unity.

Friends of Bangladesh (FOB), UK reaffirmed its pledge to remain steadfast in its mission — dedicating its full strength and resources to the service of humanity and the welfare of underprivileged people in Bangladesh.

মানবতার কল্যাণে নিবেদিত সংগঠন ফ্রেন্ডস অব বাংলাদেশ (এফওবি), ইউকে আয়োজন করেছে এক বর্ণাঢ্য বার্ষিক চ্যারিটি ডিনার, যা অনুষ্ঠিত হয় লন্ডনের বিখ্যাত মেফেয়ার ভেন্যু, রমফোর্ডে গত শনিবার, ১১ অক্টোবর ২০২৫ তারিখে।

অনুষ্ঠানের মূল উদ্দেশ্য ছিল বাংলাদেশের দরিদ্র, দুঃস্থ ও অসহায় জনগোষ্ঠীর সহায়তা — বিশেষত ব্রেস্ট ক্যান্সারে আক্রান্ত নারীদের চিকিৎসা, পথশিশুদের পুনর্বাসন, এবং চোখের দৃষ্টি পুনরুদ্ধার প্রকল্পের জন্য তহবিল সংগ্রহ করা।

ডা. মোহাম্মদ আজিজ, সাধারণ সম্পাদক, জানান যে সংগঠনটি ইতিমধ্যে সারাদেশে একটি মোবাইল ব্রেস্ট ক্যান্সার স্ক্রিনিং ইউনিট পরিচালনা করছে, যার মাধ্যমে গ্রামীণ নারীদের প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে রোগ শনাক্ত করে জীবন বাঁচানোর উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে। তিনি আরও জানান, শিগগিরই একটি মোবাইল চোখের ছানি অস্ত্রোপচার ইউনিট যুক্ত করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।

১৯৮২ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে এফওবি ইউকে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের মানবিক সহানুভূতি, দেশপ্রেম ও সমাজসেবার এক উজ্জ্বল প্রতীক। সংগঠনটি অনুসরণ করে তাদের বিরল ও প্রশংসনীয় নীতি — “Hundred Percent Goes to the Beneficiaries”, অর্থাৎ সংগৃহীত প্রতিটি অর্থ সরাসরি উপকারভোগীদের কল্যাণে ব্যয় করা হয়।

বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশন, লন্ডন-এর পক্ষে মি. তানভির মোহাম্মদ আজিম, কমার্শিয়াল কাউন্সেলর, হাইকমিশনারের বার্তা পাঠ করে বলেন,

“ফ্রেন্ডস অব বাংলাদেশ কেবল একটি প্রবাসী সংগঠন নয়, এটি এক মানবিক শক্তি, যা বাংলাদেশের অসহায় মানুষের জীবনে বাস্তব পরিবর্তন আনছে।”

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন:

সভাপতিত্ব করেন ডা. মোঃ জিয়াউল হক, এবং সার্বিক ব্যবস্থাপনায় ছিলেন ডা. মোহাম্মদ আজিজ। সহযোগিতায় ছিলেন ট্রাস্টি সদস্য ও সাবেক সভাপতি মাহবুব ইজদানি খান।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রদর্শিত হয় সংগঠনের কার্যক্রমভিত্তিক প্রামাণ্যচিত্র, উপস্থাপনা করেন ডা. এম. এ. আউয়াল। এছাড়া কনসালট্যান্ট ব্রেস্ট সার্জন ডা. জাকারুল্লাহ উপস্থাপন করেন “ব্রেস্ট ক্যান্সার সচেতনতা ও আত্ম-পরীক্ষা” বিষয়ক তথ্যচিত্র।

তহবিল সংগ্রহ পরিচালনা করেন আজমল মাশরুর, সহায়তায় ছিলেন কোষাধ্যক্ষ অ্যাকাউন্ট্যান্ট নুরুল ইসলাম।
সঞ্চালনায় ছিলেন ফারহান মাসুদ খান, সলিসিটার ইমতিয়াজ হোসেন এবং খাদিজা নাসিম।
ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করেন অ্যাকাউন্ট্যান্ট সৈয়দ আরিফ কাজী, এবং সমাপনী বক্তব্য রাখেন সভাপতি ডা. মোঃ জিয়াউল হক।

সাংস্কৃতিক পর্বে আল আমিন শাদ, সম্পা দেওয়ানসহ অন্যান্য শিল্পীদের মনোমুগ্ধকর পরিবেশনা দর্শকদের মুগ্ধ করে।

চিকিৎসক, আইনজীবী, ব্যবসায়ী, কমিউনিটি প্রতিনিধি ও যুক্তরাজ্যজুড়ে কর্মরত বাংলাদেশি পেশাজীবীদের অংশগ্রহণে অনুষ্ঠানটি হয়ে ওঠে এক অনন্য মানবিক সংযোগের মঞ্চ।

এফওবি ইউকে পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেছে তাদের অঙ্গীকার— প্রবাসে থেকেও মাতৃভূমির দরিদ্র, অসহায় ও বঞ্চিত জনগণের পাশে থেকে মানবতার সেবায় কাজ করে যাবে তারা সর্বান্তকরণে।
