What is Good Friday

Good Friday is one of the most solemn days observed by Christians worldwide. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and his death at Calvary. It is observed during the Holy Week, preceding Easter Sunday.

Historical Background

According to Christian belief, Jesus Christ was arrested, tried, and crucified by the Roman authorities. Christians observe this day as a symbol of sacrifice, redemption, and forgiveness.
Church services, prayers, fasting, and mourning rituals are common traditions observed on this day.

Islamic Perspective (Qur’an & Hadith)

From an Islamic viewpoint, the understanding of Jesus (Isa عليه السلام) differs significantly.
The Qur’an clearly states:
“They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but it was made to appear so to them…”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:157)

Muslims believe:

Jesus (Isa عليه السلام) was not crucified
Allah saved him and raised him up
He will return before the Day of Judgment
Guidance for the Muslim Ummah
Islam teaches Muslims to preserve their own identity and avoid imitating religious practices that contradict Islamic beliefs.
🔸 The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” (Abu Dawood)

Advice:

Muslims should respect other religions peacefully
But must avoid participating in non-Islamic religious rituals
Strengthen their Iman through Qur’an and Sunnah

 গুড ফ্রাইডে কী

Good Friday খ্রিস্টান ধর্মাবলম্বীদের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ধর্মীয় দিন। এই দিনে তারা হযরত ঈসা (আঃ)-এর ক্রুশবিদ্ধ হওয়া এবং মৃত্যুকে স্মরণ করে।

 

ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপট

খ্রিস্টান বিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী, রোমান শাসকগণ হযরত ঈসা (আঃ)-কে গ্রেফতার করে এবং ক্রুশবিদ্ধ করে হত্যা করে। এই দিনটি তারা ত্যাগ, ক্ষমা ও আত্মত্যাগের প্রতীক হিসেবে পালন করে

কোরআন ও হাদিসের আলোকে ইসলামের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি:

🔹 পবিত্র কোরআনে আল্লাহ বলেন:
“তারা তাকে হত্যা করেনি এবং ক্রুশবিদ্ধও করেনি; বরং তাদের নিকট তা সেরূপ প্রতীয়মান করা হয়েছিল।”
(সূরা আন-নিসা ৪:১৫৭)
🔹 মুসলমানদের বিশ্বাস:
হযরত ঈসা (আঃ) ক্রুশবিদ্ধ হননি
আল্লাহ তাঁকে উঠিয়ে নিয়েছেন
তিনি কিয়ামতের পূর্বে পুনরায় আগমন করবেন

 

মুসলিম উম্মাহর জন্য করণীয়

 

রাসূলুল্লাহ (সা.) বলেছেন:
“যে ব্যক্তি কোনো জাতির অনুকরণ করে, সে তাদেরই অন্তর্ভুক্ত।” (আবু দাউদ)
পরামর্শ:
অন্য ধর্মকে সম্মান করা ইসলামের শিক্ষা
তবে মুসলমানদের উচিত অইসলামিক ধর্মীয় আচার থেকে বিরত থাকা
কোরআন ও হাদিস অনুসরণ করে নিজস্ব ঈমানকে শক্তিশালী করা

উপসংহার / Conclusion

Good Friday holds deep significance for Christians, but from an Islamic perspective, its core belief contradicts the teachings of the Qur’an.
Therefore, Muslims are advised to:
Maintain religious identity
Show peaceful coexistence
Avoid participation in non-Islamic religious practices
